Abstract
Sahriza, (2022): The Cooperation between Guidance and Counseling Teachers and Subject Teachers in Dealing with Online Game Addiction at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru
This research aimed at knowing 1) the form of cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction (2) supporting and obstructing factors of the cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction, (3) the factors causing addiction to online games at State Senior High School 10 Pekanbaru. It was a descriptive qualitative research. The main informants of this research were 4 guidance and counseling teachers, and the additional informants were 3 subject teachers and 3 students. The object of this research was the cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction. Interview and documentation techniques were used for collecting the data. The data analysis was presented with narrative technique. The findings of this research showed that 1) the form of cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction were a) sharing information about students' attitudes and behavior, especially students who were addiction of playing online games, b) moving the problems experienced by students from subject teachers to guidance and counseling teachers, c) holding a meeting between the parents, teachers, and students concerned. 2) The supporting and obstructing factors of the cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers and subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction: a) the supporting factors: school personnel supported the cooperation between guidance and counseling teachers with subject teachers in dealing with online game addiction, supporting facilities and infrastructure, b) the obstructing factors: the background of the guidance and counseling teachers who did not come from undergraduate of guidance and counseling, limited time to provide guidance and counseling services, busyness and lack of attention from parents in controlling children playing games. 3) Factors causing addiction to online games: a) internal factors: the strong students’ desire to get high scores in playing online games and the boredom felt by students that made them more interested in playing games, b) external factors: the environment that was very influential, so it caused addiction in playing games to forget time, and the many types of online games that triggered addiction students wanted to keep trying new things.
