Abstract

This study aims to reveal and conceptualize the body of knowledge underlying the curriculum of the Islamic Education Guidance and Counseling (BKPI) study program in Indonesian Islamic higher education institutions. The increasing demand for curriculum clarity and academic identity highlights the need for a coherent scientific foundation that integrates guidance and counseling sciences with Islamic values. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) design, limited to the preliminary study and hypothetical product development stages. Data were obtained through a systematic literature review and document analysis of curriculum structures from ten BKPI study programs across state and private Islamic higher education institutions. The analysis focused on course structures, disciplinary orientations, and competency domains to map the core scientific components of BKPI. The findings show that the BKPI curriculum is organized into two main clusters: guidance and counseling sciences and Islamic studies. These clusters are integrated into a comprehensive body of knowledge consisting of fourteen interrelated domains, with Islamic studies functioning as the central epistemological foundation supporting pedagogy, psychology, and statistics. The results indicate that BKPI represents an interdisciplinary and integrative field that combines religious, educational, psychological, and methodological perspectives to address human development holistically. This study contributes a structured body of knowledge framework that strengthens the academic identity of BKPI and provides a conceptual reference for curriculum development. However, this research is limited to conceptual construction without empirical validation. Future research is recommended to test the framework through expert validation and curriculum implementation studies.
